In 1928 Max Le Verrier created his famous CLARTE, a woman with a lighted glass ball, the main work of his career as a sculptor. In fact, the needed several live models: one for the head, a second for the upper part of the body and a third for the legs. For this last part he asked an Afro American dancer who played in the revue theaters of Josephine Baker.
